Assistant Fund Controller
Our client is seeking an Assistant Fund Controller to join their growing firm.
Position Summary
A growing investment management firm focused on alternative assets is seeking a proactive and resourceful Assistant Controller to support its accounting and finance operations. This individual will play a key role in financial reporting, fund accounting oversight, compliance, and operational initiatives across the organization.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role offers significant exposure to investment accounting, fund operations, executive leadership, and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation and review of quarterly and annual fund financial statements, including support of the annual audit process.
Coordinate with external service providers and review fund accounting activities, including net asset value calculations, capital transactions, investor allocations, and financial reporting.
Support technical accounting matters related to investment entities and complex organizational structures.
Assist in the coordination and review of annual tax filings and compliance requirements with external advisors.
Monitor cash positions, support liquidity management activities, and assist with forecasting and financial analysis.
Respond to investor information requests and participate in special projects as needed.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the implementation of internal controls and operational efficiencies.
Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives, system implementations, new investment structures, and other growth-related projects.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
2–4 years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting, investment management, private equity, fund accounting, financial services, or a related industry.
CPA designation preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and investment or partnership accounting principles.
Familiarity with financial reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements applicable to investment entities.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with accounting, reporting, or portfolio management systems is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality work.
