Fund Accounting & Operations Analyst
A specialist consulting role embedded with a leading global private equity investment firm.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Join a dedicated fund services team supporting one of the world’s largest private equity investment firms. Although employed by a global fund services provider, your day-to-day work will be fully focused on this client and its investment platform.
Why consider this opportunity?
This is not a traditional fund accounting role centered only on processing and periodic reporting. You will work closely with professionals supporting a sophisticated private markets platform, gaining broad exposure to the operational and financial mechanics behind complex private equity funds.
The remit spans fund accounting, fund operations, regulatory reporting, performance calculations and the improvement of reporting processes. It offers a strong opportunity to understand how a large-scale private equity platform operates end to end, while building deeper technical expertise within private markets.
The environment is fast-paced and highly accountable. It will suit someone who enjoys complexity, takes ownership of their work and wants to operate close to a major institutional investor.
The role
You will support fund controllers and other stakeholders across accounting, reporting and operational activity. Core responsibilities include:
Facilitating credit facility interest payments, paydowns and drawdowns between multiple parties, including calculating interest payments and accruals by tranche.
Reconciling fund positions, including contributions, distributions, total P&L, gross and net returns and IRR, between management reporting software and accounting schedules, and booking adjustments where required.
Calculating gross and net investor returns by updating existing IRR calculations with current-period cash flows and ending NAV.
Assisting with quarterly and annual regulatory reporting, including Form PF and AIFMD, by running activity reports and completing reporting templates.
Reviewing management company expenses allocated to funds, retaining invoice support, checking accuracy and completeness and facilitating payments across the fund structure.
Agreeing standard accounting schedules to investor statements.
Performing cash reconciliations across 50+ entities.
Preparing financial reporting, including journal entries, trial balances, financial statements and partner capital statements.
Preparing workpaper packages to support fund activity and financial reporting.
Identifying opportunities to streamline operational and reporting procedures.
Supporting fund controllers with complex calculations and models in line with governing documentation, including waterfall models and management fee calculations.
Providing ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
What we are looking for
This position is designed for a fund accounting professional who already has a solid technical foundation and can operate confidently in a demanding institutional environment.
You will be expected to handle complex calculations, reconciliations and reporting requirements with a high degree of accuracy, manage competing priorities and work with limited supervision. A positive attitude matters, but it needs to be matched by technical credibility, sound judgement and consistent ownership.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
Ideally 4–7 years of relevant fund accounting experience, more senior profiles can fit in team structure as well.
Experience within closed-end private equity is strongly preferred; private credit, real estate or comparable alternative investment structures will also be considered.
A strong understanding of fund accounting principles and investment fund operations.
Confidence across financial reporting, investor reporting, capital activity, reconciliations and performance calculations.
Strong Excel capability and comfort working with large datasets and complex models.
The ability to work independently, prioritize effectively and maintain accuracy under competing deadlines.
Clear written and verbal communication, with the confidence to work directly with stakeholders across the fund structure.
A proactive, practical mindset and a genuine interest in understanding private markets beyond the accounting entries.
Who will do well here?
You are technically strong and naturally thorough, but you also understand the wider commercial and operational context behind the numbers.
You are comfortable asking the right questions, taking ownership and following complex matters through to resolution.
You enjoy working in a client-dedicated environment where quality, responsiveness and credibility matter.
You want exposure to a major private equity platform without moving into a purely in-house position.
